I would like to welcome you to the City of Rockford, one of the friendliest and most beautiful small towns anywhere! Our neighbors and our volunteers make Rockford a wonderful place to live. We are committed to protecting the exceptional quality of life for all of our residents.
Carl Koella III,
City Mayor
The area where Rockford stands today was originally known as Rocky Ford because it was a place where one could ford the Little River with horse or oxen pulled vehicles on a solid rock river bottom. It later became Rockford and in 1970 became an incorporated city. The city’s first mayor was the Honorable Richard Koella.
We would like to thank Nola Cummings and Dean Stone for their contributions to the written history of Rockford.
